AAR Lafe event
The first sight of the Fort gate brought tears to
my eyes! The work done makes this the premire
Roman re-enactment site in the USA! Having a
place to sleep in barracks, a real gate to guard,
and cavalry, with the added plus of britons to
fight! Sometimes the auxiliaries have to change
sides, just to balance out the battles, but either
way, it is a great event!

lousy weekend 12 &13 March.
We leave for Lafe in 3 days, yet the truck won't be
going, so the extra spears, catapult, shields, and
the bunk bed will be staying behind. We're going
to take only the basics for a campaign, no frills,
except the draco standard and bearskin, and extra
blankets. of course, we will need camera and film,
but that is a necessity, not a frill.
The boffer pila worked really well in practise,
we'll see what happens when we use them in melee on
Saturday!
Masybe I'll be over my sinus cold in time to get
pneumonia at Fort Lafe!!!

COHORS TRES ITALICA
well, we started the website, put up a couple of
photos and links. In the real world, we were
building pila or Roman missile weapons for the
event at Lafe, Arkansas today. The weapon is
designed to be thrown at people as an armor
penetrating weapon. Peter Connolly said they
weren't supposed to be used only to take out a
shield but actually were meant to kill the enemy.
Since our pila will be used in mock battles, we
don't want to kill people, so we put a tennis ball
on the end of some high pressure PVC, and attach
it to a golf tube. When the weapon hits a target,
it will become unusable because a balsa wood pin
in the handle will break. Until the balsa wood
pin is replaced, the pila will hopefully be
unusable, like the originals.
